The club

Nine Dragons teaches martial arts and Kaizendo Kickboxing in Birkenhead, with classes that run from the Dragon Cubs, aged five, through to adults. Most new members arrive the same way: a parent or an adult beginner searches locally, looks at a few clubs on their phone, and decides which one to try.

The club needed two things from one build. A public website that makes trying a class feel easy, and somewhere to keep the running of the club, from belt progress to class schedules, that wasn’t a spreadsheet and a group chat.

What we built

Three parts, sharing one set of data:

  • The public site. The disciplines and age groups, the class schedule, the instructors, a belt journey that shows what progress looks like, a gallery and the club’s charity work, all written for a phone first.
  • A members’ area. Secure sign-in, then each member’s belt progress, grading history, lessons and video sessions, and nutrition guides.
  • A club admin side. Instructors manage members, sessions, belts, lessons and guides themselves, without asking a developer.

From visit to free trial

The site’s main job is getting people through the door for a first class. A short guided chat asks what someone is interested in, what they want from it and when they could come, then hands the whole request to the club on WhatsApp, already written. The club gets a complete enquiry, and the visitor doesn’t have to fill in a form or work out what to say.

It is deliberately not an AI chatbot. A handful of clear questions does this job better, costs nothing to run and never says anything the club wouldn’t.

Built to be found locally

Each page is written around the searches local families actually make, such as martial arts, kickboxing and kids’ classes in Birkenhead and across the Wirral, with the club’s location and details marked up so search engines and AI assistants can read them reliably. It is the same approach we take on our own Birkenhead and Wirral pages, and it is set out in our guide to local SEO and AI search.

What it shows

A small local organisation rarely needs a large system. It needs the few things it does every week, taking enquiries, tracking progress and running sessions, to happen in one place that its own people can manage. That is the same thinking behind our implementation work: use the simplest thing that works, and only add AI where it genuinely earns its place.

Common questions

Can members and instructors update things themselves?+

Yes. Instructors manage members, sessions, belts, lessons and guides from the admin side, and members see their own progress when they sign in. Nothing routine needs a developer.

Why send enquiries to WhatsApp rather than email?+

It is where the club already talks to members and parents, so enquiries get seen and answered quickly. The message arrives fully written, with the class and timing the person is interested in.

Do you build websites for other kinds of local business?+

Yes. We build websites for trades, shops, clinics, clubs and professional firms across Wirral, Liverpool and Cheshire. Start a short brief and choose Website.
